Good Riddance to 2008.

It's been a traumatic year worldwide. Earthquakes, floods, wars, financial panic ...

Here in S.A, the xenophobic attacks, horrific crime against women and children, the collapse of a President, and the terrible tragedies of the Zimbabwean people, to mention a few of the woes. Whatever the police may say, the battle against crime is not being won.

On the bright side, we seem to have a better government for the time being, although it's marking time until the next elections.

Foundations have certainly been shaken up, including with the American Presidential elections. Next year will be an interesting and challenging time, but I hope that it'll be a time of solutions.

I certainly won't hold onto 2008 with any degree of sentimentality.

I agree... 2008 had been a terrible year. Wars, civil unrests, diseases, economic downturn, death of great people etc.

Anyway...

Happy New Year! May Year 2009 be a great year!

Actually, I'm never sad or sentimental when the old year goes and the new one comes. I have learnt that each year brings its own trials and tribulations and one learns to live with them.

It is often difficult to stay positive, but one can only try. At the end of each day I am grateful that I, and the rest of my family, have made it safely through another day and pray that the next day will be just as good.

2009 will be a challenging year for the country and hopefully this time round the populace will vote with their heads and not with their sentiments.

There IS light at the end of the tunnel (so they say!)
